About Nithyashree

Nithyashree is a true cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) selection developed by the Indian Institute of Spices Research from the line In 189. It was selected for shoot regeneration, bark yield and quality in a 1990-95 evaluation at Peruvannamuzhi, Kerala. The breeder describes vigorous shoot regrowth and aromatic quills, with young flushes changing from light purple to green in 2-4 days. Its profile lists three years to first harvest and recommends it for cinnamon-growing areas of India. These Indian observations do not establish performance in Florida.
