Ratan

Ratan, also identified as BioL 212, is an improved Indian grass pea cultivar included by ICARDA among low-ODAP breeding releases. Low ODAP does not mean toxin-free; existing grass-pea consumption cautions still apply. In a single winter-season trial at Nadia, West Bengal, in 2020-21, Ratan produced more grain than Prateek and Nirmal, with an average grain yield of 1,672 kg/ha across the tested establishment methods. It has also been studied in rice-fallow systems in Birbhum, West Bengal. These regional trial results are not a universal yield guarantee.
