Suruga is a late-season non-astringent persimmon noted as one of the sweetest of its type, with soluble solids around 18 to 21 percent. The richly sweet, firm-crisp orange fruit ripens very late in the season, extending the harvest, and is considered a notch above most other non-astringent Asian persimmons for flavor.
