Sabará
Sabará is the benchmark jaboticaba and the selection nearly every other cultivar gets measured against. Julia Morton recorded it as the most prized and most often planted jaboticaba in Brazil, and it still dominates both commercial orchards and dooryard plantings there. Botanically it is usually filed under Plinia jaboticaba, treated by most horticulturists as part of the wider P. cauliflora complex, and Florida nurseries routinely use it as the rootstock onto which rarer jaboticabas are grafted. What sets it apart is the combination of very thin skin, exceptional sweetness and a willingness to flush and fruit repeatedly through the year rather than in a single burst.
