Rome, or Rome Beauty, is a classic American baking apple that originated in Ohio in the 1800s. The round, deep-red fruit is fairly mild and only average for fresh eating, but it holds its shape superbly when baked or stuffed, making it the traditional choice for baked apples. A late-season keeper.
