Regina

Prunus avium

Regina is a late-season dark sweet cherry of German origin, valued as a modern commercial variety for its firmness, large size, and outstanding resistance to fruit cracking. The fruits are large, firm, and heart-shaped, ripening to a dark glossy red with rich, sweet flavor and excellent shelf life, making them well suited to shipping. Regina ripens late, extending the harvest, and its strong crack tolerance makes it especially valuable in regions prone to harvest-time rain. It is self-unfruitful and needs a pollinizer, and it pairs well with Kordia, the two often planted together as mutual pollinizers. The tree is productive and reliable. Regina has become one of the leading late dark cherries in European and North American orchards.Read more
