Reed
Persea americana
Reed is a Guatemalan avocado introduced in 1960 from a chance seedling found by James Reed in Carlsbad, California, and regarded as one of the highest-quality avocados in the world. It bears very large, round, green fruit like green softballs, often over a pound, with thick, easy-peeling skin and exceptionally buttery flesh. Because the market favors small black Hass-type fruit, its size and green skin have kept it out of the mainstream trade despite its superb eating quality.Read more
