Rajada

Rajada

Rajada is one of the historic Brazilian jaboticaba selections catalogued by Julia Morton and carried forward in the California Rare Fruit Growers fruit facts. It sits in the large-fruited Paulista group in tree habit and productivity but differs sharply in the fruit itself, which ripens to an unusual green-bronze rather than the standard purple-black. The skin is thinner than Paulista's, which makes it far better for fresh eating than most of the big-fruited types. Growers who have kept it describe the flavour as sweet and very good, placing it among the better dessert jaboticabas in the large-fruit class. It ripens midseason, between the early Sabará flushes and the later Paulista crop.Read more
