Aromatnaya

Aromatnaya is a Russian quince cultivar celebrated for being one of the few quinces mild and aromatic enough to be eaten fresh off the tree in warm climates, in addition to its excellent cooking qualities. The name reflects its powerful pineapple-like fragrance. The round to slightly pear-shaped fruit is bright yellow with tender, less astringent flesh than typical European quinces. In hot regions the fruit can soften enough to eat raw, while elsewhere it excels in jelly, preserves, and baking. Trees are cold hardy and productive, and the strong aroma and reduced astringency have made Aromatnaya a sought-after variety among quince enthusiasts.
