About Cowboy
Cowboy, also identified as PP-1, is an ornamental rhizoma peanut developed at the University of Georgia's Tifton campus. It bears rich yellow flowers and is grown for groundcover rather than edible peanuts. UGA reports that regular mowing encourages flowering, while unmown plants can reach 12-14 inches tall. Plants need moisture during establishment and become drought tolerant once established. A UGA account describes a usual May-September flowering season in its Georgia growing context.
