About Brooksville 68
Brooksville 68 is a named rhizoma peanut germplasm released by USDA NRCS in 2002 for low-maintenance groundcover. Also known as Pointed Leaf, it forms a dense canopy of dark green, narrow leaflets, with mature stands about 1-5 inches tall depending on conditions. The release brochure describes relatively abundant yellow-orange flowers, little seed production and establishment from rhizomes. It tolerates frequent mowing but performs poorly in heavy shade, high water tables or very droughty sand. Its exact original provenance is uncertain.
