Matsumoto Wase Fuyu is an early-ripening budsport of Fuyu discovered by Mr. Matsumoto, prized for maturing ahead of standard Fuyu and so well suited to shorter-season areas. Non-astringent, its firm fruit can be eaten crisp like an apple or left to soften. It combines Fuyu quality with an earlier harvest on a compact tree.
