Makok

Makok

Makok is a Thai cultivar that reached Florida relatively recently and has become the top pick for gardeners with no room for a full-size tree. It is a genuine dwarf rather than a merely slow grower: Florida Fruit Geek documented plants carrying good crops at about three feet tall, and it fruits readily in containers. The fruit is small and distinctly elongated and pointed, usually with a single small seed, which makes it easy to eat out of hand. UF/IFAS rates its quality as very good and its yield as very good, an unusual combination for a dwarf. Its May-to-November season also fills the summer window, complementing winter-ripening cultivars such as Hasya and Molix.Read more
