Magness is a benchmark fire-blight-resistant dessert pear from the USDA Beltsville station (1960), a Seckel by Comice cross prized for honeyed, buttery flesh with absolutely no grit. Its thick yellow skin carries a crimson blush. Vigorous but slow to bear, it is a top choice where fire blight is a problem.
