About Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a lily-of-the-valley cultivar with larger, more abundant flowers than the species, according to Chicago Botanic Garden. Its fragrant white bells appear in spring, and it spreads vigorously to form groundcover. Avon Bulbs describes substantial flower stems suitable for cutting and recommends partial to full shade in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. In its UK planting guidance, dormant pips are set with their growing tips at or just below the surface, about 15-20 cm apart, and kept moist during establishment. Like other Convallaria majalis, it is toxic if eaten by people or pets; wear gloves when handling.
