Kun Wi Chan
'Kun Wi Chan' is a Thai cultivar, sold in the US nursery trade under the name 'Thai Globe', and it is the giant of the Florida evaluation group, producing uniformly round fruit of 33 to 45 lb from a vigorous, dense tree that recorded around 242 lb per year. It is the cultivar to choose if the goal is bulk: large fruit, heavy crops, and enough flesh from a single harvest to feed a household or a market stall. Eating quality is the compromise. UF/IFAS records the flavour as mild and pleasant but rates it mediocre relative to the recommended cultivars, and it was not on the short list Fairchild put forward for commercial and home garden use.
