Jitlee
Jitlee
Jitlee (often written Jit Lee) is a Singapore selection that spread through Malaysian and Australian orchards and is now one of the standard clones in international collections, including the USDA station at Hilo. ITFNet singles it out for an unusually long postharvest life, which made it attractive to growers shipping to distant markets before Rongrien took over that role. In the USDA-ARS five-year Puerto Rico trial, Jitlee and R-162 produced significantly more fruit and higher yields than Gula Batu regardless of rootstock, marking it as one of the more productive clones outside its native climate. It sat in the higher soluble-solids group at the Corozal site alongside R-167, Rongrien and R-162. Northern Territory extension lists it among the early-flowering clones.Read more
