'J-30' is one of the numbered Malaysian jackfruit selections released through that country's fruit improvement work, and it came through the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden evaluation on the recommended list for both commercial and home garden use in Florida. Its calling card is uniformity: the fruit are consistently oblong and evenly sized, which matters commercially because it makes grading and packing straightforward. Edible flesh is about 38 percent of fruit weight, comfortably above the roughly one-third that is typical for the species. The arils are firm and deep orange with a rich sweet flavour, placing it in the crisp-textured camp alongside 'NS1' rather than with the soft-fleshed Australian selections.
