Honeysweet
Pyrus communis
Honeysweet is a Purdue University pear (released 1977) often described as an improved Seckel, with excellent Seckel-like flavor that is unusually good eaten fresh off the tree. It is one of the few European pears with meaningful self-fertility, and it is cold-hardy and stores well. A fine dual-purpose backyard pear.
