Gonzalez

Gonzalez is a Philippine cultivar included in the UF/IFAS Florida cultivar table, where it posts one of the strongest overall records of any selection listed: quality rated very good to excellent and yield rated very good. Fruit is round to oval and quite variable in size, from about 3 to just over 9 ounces, distinguished by unusually pale, very light brown skin. The flesh runs light to dark brown and is smooth in texture rather than granular. It ripens November through April, giving a long cool-season harvest that overlaps Alano and Hasya. The Philippines maintains a number of named sapodilla selections in cultivation, and Gonzalez is the one that has been formally evaluated and recommended in Florida conditions.Read more
