Golden Delicious is a classic yellow apple that arose in West Virginia around 1900 and became a parent of many modern varieties. The tender, sweet, golden fruit is excellent both fresh and in the kitchen, holding flavor in pies, sauce, and baking. A midseason all-purpose apple, it is one of the most versatile in the orchard.
