Dang Rasimi
Dang Rasimi
'Dang Rasimi' is a Thai cultivar and the production champion of the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden evaluation, recording 165 to 275 lb of fruit per tree per year, well ahead of the rest of the recommended group. The fruit are medium-large and unusually uniform in their oblong shape, so a tree gives a consistent, gradeable crop rather than a scatter of odd sizes. Flesh is deep orange and firm with a mild, sweet flavour and a pleasant aroma, which makes it a good household cultivar for people who find the more perfumed jackfruits overpowering. The trade-off for all that productivity is vigour: it grows fast and open and will not stay small without a committed annual pruning schedule. It is stocked in Florida as both grafted trees and seedlings and appears in the Fairchild curator's recommended selections.Read more
