Choquette

Persea americana

Choquette is a classic Florida avocado, grown from a seed of unknown origin planted by Remi Choquette in Miami in 1929 and named for him; it entered commercial cultivation in 1939. A large-fruited, late-season Guatemalan-West Indian hybrid, it became one of Florida most popular avocados and has since spread worldwide, notably to Colombia. Like other Florida avocados it is much lower in oil and higher in water than California Guatemalan types.Read more
