About Papa Sylvest

Papa Sylvest is a named Louisiana heirloom chayote preserved from the Danos-Arceneaux family farm in Cut Off. Vivian Danos Arceneaux named it in honor of her father, Sylvester Antoine Danos, Sr., who planted the original seed there. The family supplied sprouts to Mirliton.org to help other growers maintain the variety.
