About Maituna
Maituna is an achira cultivar studied for starch production from its rhizomes in Huila, Colombia. In a 2018 trial at 1,700 m elevation in Palermo, its extracted starch yield peaked at eight months after planting, at 12.46% on a wet basis. At that harvest age, Maituna had the lowest amylose content of the four tested cultivars, 45.63%. These results describe that Colombian trial and its extraction method, rather than a universal harvest date or expected garden yield.
