About Catongo
Catongo is a naturally occurring white-seeded (albino) mutant of Amelonado from Brazil, a Forastero rather than a Criollo despite its ivory beans, which makes it a classic illustration that white cotyledon colour alone does not signal Criollo ancestry. Valued mainly as breeding and research material, it is otherwise grown for bulk cocoa like other Amelonado Forasteros.
